Happy Mother's Day!

Of course we need to take a minute today to say Happy Mother's Day to all our friends and family members who are mothers! At this point in our life, so many of our friends have become mothers, it's impossible to list all of you! We believe you do a great job every day!
To our own mothers, Kim and Patti, we want to thank you for giving birth to us and teaching us important things like not to wipe our dirty hands on clean pants, and to treat others as we would like to be treated. We would like to think that the kindness we know we can both display is a gift from our mothers, because only mothers can love you anyway. Even when you do stupid things and the rest of the world finds it hard to even LIKE you, mom LOVES you.
Our moms taught us to stand up straight, smile even when we don't want to, and to do what we love because you only get one life. We are loving and gentle (yes, I CAN be gentle sometimes) because of our mothers. And Cort says I am a good cook because of my mom, and I believe he is sensitive and polite because of his mom.
Even if we don't act like it or say it enough, we appreciate our moms for raising us to be the people we are today!
We also love the people who have been "second" mothers to us over the years: Lynne, Jane, Betty, and Deb L (and really all of our friends moms...you know who you are): you have all helped us get over heartaches, fed us grilled cheese sandwhiches, told us to wear a coat because it was chilly or bought us a beer when we really needed it. You have all given us classic (and at times, not-so-classic) motherly advice--whether we took it or not, that was up to us, but you were always there to lay it on us...or at least listen when we needed to talk.
And of course, thanks to all our friends who are just naturally motherly to us...those who have calmed us down or bought us a diet coke (ok, that one is all about me...I tend to need more mothering than Cort does)!
We love all of you "mothers" out there!
