Meeting the Author!

Tonight the Barnes and Nobles in the Grandville mall was having a very special book signing. Kate Gosselin, the mother from TLC's reality show, Jon and Kate Plus Eight, was signing her book that she wrote chronicling the the birth of their twins and then their sextupits through the first 2 years of the sextuplits lives. I bought the book a few days and could NOT put it down! I am sure part of it is because Cortney and I are freaked out about having ONE baby, and they had SIX at a time with 2 three-year olds at home!

Trisha and I got to B & N at about 4:30 for the 7:00 signing. Ben told us he thought we should get there early, because it's such a popular show, and there would be tons of people. Boy was he RIGHT! We were there 2 1/2 hours early and were still about the 50th-75th people in line! While we waited, Trisha ran over to the food court and bought us some burgers to tide us over. Then someone came around and gave us all a cookie! Then another clerk came around and put a post it note in our books with the proper spelling of our name so Kate could fly through the signings.

Trisha and I had a great time just chatting and waiting in line. She got up and couple times and checked on the line. We were AMAZED at how fast it grew! Soon the line was all the way to the back of the store. Before we knew it, it had wrapped all the way back up to the front. Then we were told by newcomers that it was out and wrapped into the mall. By the time the line started moving at 7:00, the line had wrapped all the way down the mall, into Sears, and almost out into the parking lot! Good thing Ben told us to get there early! Dang!

I finally made it to the front of the line! Poor Kate seemed like she was on a factory line. Books shoved in her face, a quick signing, and you were pushed out. Trisha and I agree that we wished we had focused more on her than getting our pic taken, but it was still worth it!

On the way out, I tried to capture what a media frenzy the whole thing was...this does not even BEGIN to show it!

It was really quite an experience and I am glad I did it! I love that show so much! Thanks, Kate for signing my book and keeping me entertained with your cute family!

I got there at 8:30 - oops! I did not even attempt to stand in line that started at Sears. Maybe I'll try tomorrow at Baker Book House.

Don't you wonder what is happening at their house right now? John all alone! My husband can hardley handle my 7 mnth old for a few house ... ha! Great pictures by the way!

Katie--

I'm the one that wrote your post-it :) (I'm going around to blogs this morning to get feedback from the event.) I'm glad you had a great time!

You and Trisha need to check out this site- just to see the other side of the story.. I thought everyone was a Kate Gosselin fan until I read this blog.... :)

yes, I've heard of that site. In fact, it's infamous for being a hater site. I don't like hater sites. In fact, I just have better things to do with my time. I like the show...I'm not interested in any other "behind the scenes controversy" or opinions. It's TV for crying out loud. But thanks for passing it along :)
