This Just Happens to be a "Going"...

When I asked Cortney if I could blog about what follows in this post he said, "yeah, I guess. That is what the blog is, right? A way to keep our friends and family up on the comings and goings of the Sluiters. This just happens to be a 'going'."

Sluiter Nation got some sad news yesterday: Cortney is "going" from his job--for a while, anyway. He is being laid off.

For those of you who don't know, Cortney works for a company that is owned by members of his family. In an effort to respect the privacy of the other family members who work there, I am not going to go into a lot of detail about the cause of the layoffs or about who else in the family may or may not be affected by these cuts. Those are their stories to tell or not tell...not ours.

I can say that we don't know how long the lay-offs will be. It could be a month; it could be longer. We just don't know.

It's a big hit to our family, I won't hide that fact. We weren't expecting it, so we have some work to do as far as budgeting, and some decisions to make as far as Cort's schooling and Eddie's daycare amongst many other things.

I know it seems like we should just pull Eddie out of daycare so we don't have to pay for it, but he absolutely LOVES Amy Jo and his time there and we know it's good for him to be around other kids, so we are hoping to be able to budget some days a week for him to go.

It's all a matter of prioritizing, which we so luckily didn't have to deal with as much before. Eddie is our priority and we would rather absorb this hit ourselves than have him have to feel it if that is possible.

Our bright spot in all of this is that last week our house was appraised for more than we had been hoping, so we can refinance and have a lower house payment--something that will defintely help the budget!

All we ask is that you keep our little family in your thoughts and prayers. We know there is a plan for us, we just need the patience and guidence to follow it joyfully and without complaint, anger, or frustration.

We would love to see this "going" turn into a "coming" very soon!
