The Littlest Dutch Boy

I have been waiting my WHOLE life for this. I have always, always, ALWAYS wanted to put my kids in little Dutch costumes and bring them to Tulip Time. When my aunt's friend, Sharon, finished Eddie's costume earlier this spring, I couldn't wait to get him into it. His blond hair and blue eyes make him the perfect little Dutch boy. I could cry, he's so cute.
Today we both put on our costumes ( I may have had to squeeze a little more than he did to fit into mine...yikes), and we went to my parents' house to take advantage of my mom's tulips that have already bloomed. Eddie was VERY excited about them.
He and I tip toed our way through them while Cort snapped some pictures. It reminded me of going to watch my mom Dutch Dance many moons ago. I hardly remember other than I thought it was so neat that she and I both had Dutch costumes.
Tulip Time has been a big part of my life for, well, my WHOLE life. I have never missed a Wednesday Tulip parade and I fully intend to take Eddie to his first (my 33rd possibly?). So in a few weeks, he will put his costume back on (I probably will not...I DO have to eat junk food at the parade and I am afraid I will rip something if I eat while in this) and we will venture downtown Holland--rain or shine--and he will taste his first elephant ear and hear the bands. I can't wait!
Until then, he is rewarded for being good during pictures with a swing ride from grandma.

I'll be making the pilgrimage to Holland just for Tulip Time! Can't wait for them to wear their outfits!

As they say, Of you aren't Dutch, you aren't much!
