Turning Thirty-Fun

That's right...Friday, March 27th, was my birthday. My 31st birthday to be exact. I kept telling people that I was now thirty-fun. That really is how I see it...and apparently others see that as fitting for me as well.

The excitement was actually kicked off on Monday of last week when Cort and I had dinner with Cort's mom and stepdad. Kim cooked a YUMMY dinner and then we had turtle pie and presents! What a great way to start my birthday week!

When my actual day actually came around, I thought being at work on my birthday would be a real downer. Not so! I was surprised by fun treats throughout they day be co-workers and students!

After work, Cortney gave me my birthday present: the flying V guitar for Guitar Hero! YES! I was SOOO excited! Now we have two guitars and we can rock n roll together!
Then, he took me out to the mall in Grandville to buy my a "preggo ring" (a whole other post all together, but basically my finger is getting too fat for my wedding ring). Then we went to the Olive Garden for dinner...mmmm! One of my date night favorites! And, because I couldn't order a yummy birthday cocktail, we got TWO desserts! One to share and one to take home! YUM!

Saturday night, we went over to the Visels where Ben cooked me one of the most tasty dinners EVER! They also had a cake, balloons, and a gift for me! Jake, their two-year-old, asked me if he could share his ice cream with Eddie and then asked if Eddie could come play in his room with him. He was truly bummed that Ed had to stay in my tummy and nap.

The disappointment was short-lived however, because the cake came out!

Jake was so excited! I let him help me blow out my candles. Later he whispered to me, "Katie, I like your birthday!" I like it too, Jake. I like it too!
Sunday I was visited by Cody and Liz and a little gift which was fun times. Especially because I got the extra bonus of being able to razz Cody about MSU winning that weekend. He he he.

Tonight we wrapped up the birthday fun at my parents house with mom, dad, Chris, Mike, Ashley, and us. Mom made my annual favorites: chicken salad and homemade blueberry muffins (with some other stuff for those who are not in the mood for just that for dinner). After dinner was present time. Oooo....a little box! My favorite size!
Mom and dad got me a new birthstone ring since the ring I used to wear on my right hand (that I got from my grandma when she died) broke.
Yeah, it doesn't quite fit. Remember...swollen fingers. Grrr! So it had to go back in it's little box of a home until after Ed is born. It now sits with my wedding ring and I look longingly at both of them.
Ah cake time! What would a birthday be without the great "blowing out the candles" shot? Yeah, lovely.
Overall, it was another super great birthday. Thanks to everyone for all the well-wishes!

Girl, I love reading everything you write - it always brings a smile to my face! I also love that birthday ring you got from Kays (thanks for showing support to my barely-ever-second job workplace!) You are quite spoiled! Enjoy it before Eddy gets all of it!
