The First Week of Parenthood

We did it! Today marks one week of Cortney and me being parents! A week of being a family of three!

It has been quite the ride so far, too. After lots and lots of visitors, and unbelievably great care in the hospital, we had to go home on Friday and learn to be a family of three. The weekend was a hard one on us. Luckily, Eddie is VERY good, but Cortney and I were suddenly NOT in charge of the schedule...this little baby burrito was in charge! And because of that we didn't get enough sleep, we forgot to eat, and we were left just a little emotionally drained. But we powered on...

There was lots of snuggling going on around here! At first Eddie didn't want to sleep anywhere but in our arms or in his swing. I think he felt safest there. The crib was so big and lonely!

We also introduced him to his bouncy seat. He really liked watching Tiger games from that seat!

He even got to meet his cousin, Jack, this weekend, although he slept through most of it.
Every day is something new with Eddie. He is awake for more of the day each day which gives us time to chat and sing and just get to know each other. He loves to watch his daddy's funny faces and listen to his mommy's (terrible) singing. Last night he even surprised us by sleeping the whole night in his own crib!
Today, on his one-week birthday, he is being fussy for the first time in a while--struggling against napping. But it's hard to get too mad at such a cute little face!

So, we are one week down and a lifetime yet to go!

I just checked out the pics on Missy's website. oh.my.goodness!! What A-MAZING photos! I will have to keep Missy in mind in the event the Carter Conklins ever procreate. I LOVE the pic of Eddie resting in both Kate and Cort's hands. What a terrific shot! I hope you remember us when you send out a birth announcement.
